Curfew Imposed on Nalerigu Township and Surrounding Areas in North East Region


The Ministry of the Interior has announced the imposition of a curfew on Nalerigu Township and its surrounding communities in the North East Region. This decision, based on the recommendation of the North East Regional Security Council and enacted through an Executive Instrument, is set to take effect from Sunday, July 27, 2025, and will remain in force until further notice.

According to the directive, the curfew hours will be in effect daily from 2:00 pm to 6:00 am. This measure aims to restore calm and maintain order in the area.

The government is appealing to the Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, Youth, and all residents to remain calm and exercise restraint during this challenging period. Citizens are further encouraged to pursue peaceful and non-violent avenues in addressing their concerns and contributing to lasting peace in the region.

Additionally, a total ban has been placed on the possession of arms, ammunition, and any offensive weapons within the affected areas. Individuals found in violation of this directive will face arrest and prosecution in accordance with the law.
