The National Service Authority (NSA) has announced the release of PIN codes for 9,082 trained teachers from 24 Colleges of Education across Ghana, marking the beginning of the registration process for the 2025/2026 National Service Year. Out of the 16,159 trained teachers submitted by 36 Colleges of Education, 7,077 are yet to be uploaded due to the absence of required cover letters from their respective institutions. This means that their details cannot be processed by the Authority. Notably, 5,336 students from institutions with expired accreditation are among the successfully uploaded trained teachers, while 3,746 students come from institutions with active accreditation recognized by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC). In a surprising development, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has instructed the management of Sawla Senior High School (SHS) in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District of the Savannah Region to reinstate over 30 students who were suspended indefinitely last Wednesday. In an important turn of events, President John Dramani Mahama has instructed the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) to undertake an immediate inquiry into the operations of the National Service Authority. This action follows the shocking discovery of 81,885 suspected ghost names listed on the Authority's payroll.  The finding emerged during a headcount of active National Service personnel, which was initiated by the Minister for Finance to address outstanding allowance arrears that date back to August 2024.
