The National Teaching Council (NTC) has directed all Teacher Education Institutions to upload the details of their final-year students in preparation for the reformed Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination.
This follows the government’s Resetting Ghana Agenda, which requires the licensure examination to be integrated into the final-year assessment of teacher trainees. In May 2025, the Minister of Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, set up a committee to develop modalities for the new system. One of the key recommendations was that teacher trainees must take the reformed licensure examination before graduating from their respective colleges and universities.
As part of this directive, NTC is requesting institutions to submit the particulars of all Level 400 final-year education students through the Council’s online portal: indexing.ntc.gov.gh.
The required information should be submitted in an Excel format under the following headings:
-
Index Number
-
Surname
-
Middle Name
-
First Name
-
Date of Birth
-
Sex
-
Programme
-
Programme Qualification
-
Year of Admission
-
Email Address
-
Telephone Number
Institutions are expected to comply with this directive no later than Monday, 25th August 2025.
The NTC emphasizes the importance of adhering to this deadline to ensure a smooth implementation of the new licensure examination process.
