NSS Personnel to Gain Enhanced Entry Opportunity into Ghana Armed Forces

In a significant development for National Service personnel in Ghana, the Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward K. Omane Boamah, has announced a special initiative aimed at improving their chances of joining the Ghana Armed Forces.

During the Government Accountability Series held on July 21, 2025, Dr. Boamah revealed that NSS personnel who undergo a dedicated 6-week military training program will stand a better chance of being recruited into the army, navy, or air force after completing their service.

The upcoming training program is designed to equip participants with key attributes needed for military life, including discipline, physical fitness, leadership, and teamwork. These core values are essential for anyone aspiring to serve in the Armed Forces.

Set to commence in August 2025, the training offers a valuable head start for NSS personnel with ambitions of pursuing a career in national security. Eligible participants are urged to register and make adequate preparations ahead of the training period.

This initiative is more than just skill acquisition – it presents a clear path toward future employment within Ghana’s security sector. NSS personnel are encouraged to take full advantage of the program as they not only contribute to national development during their service year but also lay a strong foundation for a potential long-term military career.
