The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially announced that Friday, 6th June 2025, will be observed as a public holiday in recognition of the upcoming Eid ul-Adha celebration. This directive applies to all Basic, Senior High, and Technical Schools (SHS and SHTS) across the country.
According to GES, students who wish to celebrate the festival with their families are permitted to travel home. However, this break is not mandatory. Those who opt to remain on campus during the holiday must be adequately supervised by school authorities.
Students who travel home for the celebration are expected to return to their respective schools by Sunday, 8th June 2025. Academic work will resume immediately upon their return.
The announcement, signed by Dr. Munawaru Issahaque, Acting Deputy Director-General (Q\&A), further instructs all Regional Directors to circulate this information to Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Directors of Education (MMDEs), as well as to the heads of Senior High Schools for necessary action.
The communication is also copied to relevant officials within GES Headquarters, including the Acting Director-General, the Acting Deputy Director-General (MS), and the Director of Schools & Instructions Division.
