Ghana's National Tripartite Committee Kicks Off 2025 Wage Negotiations

In a significant development, Ghana's National Tripartite Committee has commenced negotiations for the 2025 Minimum Wage, marking a crucial step in determining the country's compensation framework. The committee, comprising representatives from the government, employers, and organized labor, met on Monday, February 3, 2025, to initiate discussions.¹

The negotiations will first focus on the minimum wage, followed by deliberations on base pay for public sector workers. Notably, these negotiations are running behind schedule, as they were initially expected to be completed by the end of April 2024, in accordance with the Public Financial Management (PFM) Act.

To expedite the process, the government is urging social partners, including employers and organized labor, to work together efficiently to conclude the negotiations in time to inform the 2025 Budget. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, MP and Ag. Spokesperson to the President, emphasized the importance of prompt action to ensure a timely resolution.

The National Tripartite Committee plays a vital role in regulating Ghana's labor market, and its negotiations will have a significant impact on the country's workforce. As the committee works to determine the 2025 Minimum Wage and base pay, all eyes will be on the outcome, which will shape the future of employment and compensation in Ghana.
